Root Canals

What are Root Canals?

A root canal is a restorative procedure that involves removing the inner pulp of a tooth. Every single one of your teeth has a small pulp in the very center. This pulp houses the blood supply and nerves essential for the strength and vitality of the tooth. If this pulp becomes infected by decay, or is exposed, it can cause severe pain and sensitivity. When this occurs, it’s recommended to remove the pulp via a root canal.

Why are Root Canals needed?

The most common reason for needing a root canal is because decay was allowed to go down deep into the tooth, reaching the pulp. This often the result of a cavity being ignored and getting worse over time. Another reason one may need a root canal is because a tooth has broken or cracked, exposing the inner pulp. The common signs that you may need a root canal include severe pain, and sensitivity to hot and cold.

I just came from Coastal Dental Arts with Dr. Brzoza and his staff and if I could more than 5 stars I would. The Dr was so kind and gentle. Tiffany the hygienist was great and girls at the desk were so welcoming and nice, what a great experience coming from a dental appointment. Would totally recommend them to everyone.
